Celebrating Children’s Mental Health and Well-being Week
At the end of last term, children took part in various activities throughout the week to further enhance our school’s work on promoting positive mental health and wellbeing. Children took part in a ‘Wellbeing in the Woods’ session – where they explored activities in the woods, which included toasting marshmallows and making smores. During PE sessions, Mr McKay led mindfulness and relaxation activities, teaching the children a range of strategies that they can adopt to help them manage times when they might be experiencing a range of emotions. At the end of the week, children in the older classes buddied up with children in the younger classes to share and talk about a book together. They experienced a range of genres, talked to others about their favourite characters and had the chance to show off their incredible reading skills. The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience and valued the opportunity to talk with older peers across the school.
