Forest School Christmas Craft
The festive season is here so the children have been busy making Christmas decorations in the woods. This was a perfect opportunity to use the tools to learn a new skill.
Children in Nursery worked on their gross motor skills to wrap wool around a pine cone and then added coloured rice rather than glitter. The Ladybirds and Bumblebees used the loppers to cut 5 sticks of different length. They then used their ordering skills to put the 5 sticks in order to create the shape of a Christmas tree. The Year One children made tree cookie snowmen by drilling holes into the wood, threading wool and ribbon and then drawing their cute faces. Year Two made their very own stick Father Christmas by using the knife to whittle his pointy hat, wrap wool around his body and then glue 'Old man's beard' for Father Christmas' beard. The older children after school chose what they would like to make using a variety of recourses.
