Maths Curriculum Year-by-Year
Mathematics is a creative and highly interconnected discipline that has been developed over centuries, providing the solution to some of history’s most intriguing problems. It is essential to everyday life, critical to science, technology and engineering, and necessary for financial literacy and most forms of employment. A high-quality mathematics education therefore provides a foundation for understanding the world, the ability to reason mathematically, an appreciation of the beauty and power of mathematics, and a sense of enjoyment and curiosity about the subject.
Please refer to the documents below to gain an insight to the Mathematics curriculum by year and the key expectations for each year group.
We work closely with the local Maths Hub which links with the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics and use their materials to support teaching and learning. The progression documents we use to inform planning for each key area for maths can be found below. They link with the National Curriculum and outline the expectations for each year group.
